Margaux + Romain | A warm winter wedding in Savoie

3 February 2023

From their first message, I knew Margaux, Romain and I would get along. They described their ideal wedding as simple, unique, warm, spontaneous, funny and unforgettable, just like them! They didn’t lie, it was all of the above and more.

They found the perfect location for their winter wedding : le domaine des Saints-Pères near Chambéry in France. This 18th century bourgeois residence offers a large space with exposed beams and stones, crackling fireplaces, a warm decoration and the loveliest staff. They fell in love at first sight and couldn’t imagine their wedding anywhere else!

Margaux got ready in the bridal room with a small committee to enjoy the quiet. While Margot Voisin was working on her hair and make-up, I goshed at every details she chose for her bridal look: sparkling boots, lilac nailpolish, a gorgeous pleated wedding dress with embroidered details, sparkling veil, star hair pins, dried flowers bouquet, …

Meanwhile in the library, Romain’s friends were very excited to see him getting married and to finally be able to party all night long after more than a year of delay due to the pandemic. They helped him to attach his velvet bow tie and his cufflings in the shape of Monique, their beloved french bulldog.

Romain joined Margaux in the room for a first-look moment just between them (and Monique). We chosed to do their couple portraits there, the large French window creating dramatic lighting for chiaroscuro photos. Under my guidance, they channeled their inner Beyoncé and soon it was time to go.

Their ceremony took place in the cosy church with gorgeous chandeliers nearby. It was full of emotions with lot of laughs and some tears, a gospel choir (a surprise they kept from everyone), and some music played on the saxophone by Margaux’s father. At their exit, their wedding guests throw fake snowflakes at them (Margaux had require snow on her wedding day, she may have regreted that choice when the wind blew it all in their face, but it was a good laugh and I am sure she is happy to have that memory now 😉 )

All the guests drove back to the domaine for some drinks and amuse-bouches before dinner. The rest of the evening went on with touching speeches from their best friends and siblings, diaporama from their families, songs played on the piano, … Everyone went from laughing to tears a couple of times.

After all these delicious food and unforgettable moments, Margaux and Romain revealed the desserts buffet and started the party with their first dance. Everyone joined the dance floor, singing, dancing at all the hits Dance Police was launching. It went on until the end of the night.
