When you look for pregnancy photosessions on Pinterest or Instagram, you can see hundreds of pictures of gorgeous pregnant women in vaporous dresses walking into blooming fields or on the beach at sunset. But what if your due date is at the end of winter, what if you don’t live near the sea, what if vaporous dresses are not your thing anyway? Does that mean that you can’t have gorgeous pictures of yourself pregnant?
For Marilyne and Rémi it was a little bit of all of that. The baby must come in March, the day of the photoshoot was rainy and this cute couple is more into hard rock and roller derby than picking up flowers in fields. So I suggested them to have a more urban photoshoot. We met in front of the MAMCO in Geneva and wondered into the courtyard. The huge glass-ceiling protected us from the rain while diffusing the daylight and the minimalist decor had still some lines and textures for me to play with.
As I already shot them for their family pictures last year, they quickly forget me and acted very naturally. I just directed them from time to time, suggested silly games (involving guessing the profession of the people depending on the mailboxes’ names (I will just say that some of them had really adult-movie-actor’s name but shhht!)) and to not say anything at all to not break the magic. Less than two hours after, it was done and we could relax (well, I could finally relax 😉 ) around a coffee and a cake.
When Marilyne and Rémi saw the pictures, they told me my favorite compliment “it’s totally us!”. So you see, you don’t need to have a vaporous-dress-in-a-field photoshoot to look gorgeous, you just need something that looks like you. 🙂
